We hope you’re all doing well and staying healthy during these challenging times. All of us have had to find new ways of working, learning, and sharing space while sheltering in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Every day is bringing new challenges, but also opportunities to help others, learn new skills, and adapt to a more virtual life. We have compiled some resources below that we hope you find interesting and helpful!

Apply to the Strakosch Venture Competition

Looking to bring your startup to the next level? Apply to the Strakosch Venture Competition, a university-wide competition designed to promote and support entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level at Boston College. Win up to $8,000 in funding and grow your network. Many participants have gone on to leverage their ideas and learning to launch and grow real businesses.

Demo Day

Join us on Thursday, April 16th at 7pm EDT to watch 11 of Boston College’s latest dorm room startups pitch on YouTube. These students have participated in the 9-week Start@Shea Accelerator and are excited to share the products and services they’ve been building. RSVP HERE

Zoom with an Entrepreneur

Engage in lively discussion with entrepreneurs, venture capitals, and industry leaders. Start@Shea hosts these conversations once or twice and sometimes three times per week. After RSVPing, you will be sent a Zoom link.

Women Innovators Network (WIN): Female Founders Series

WIN is hosting a series of individual Zoom Q&A sessions to hear from female founders. The women will be talking about their experiences starting a company, pursuing their passions, and overcoming unique challenges.

Boston College Career Resources

The faculty and staff at BC are committed to helping students navigate this uncertain time. The Career Center is hosting multiple workshops every week to support and inform students searching for a job, and students can also sign up for an appointment with a career coach.

Eagle Intern Fellowship

The Eagle Intern Fellowship provides financial support to Boston College undergraduates who obtain summer internships with organizations that are not able to provide a salary. Apply to secure a $3,500 stipend to support your summer experience. Apply here

Add a profile to the student talent board, and they will share your profile with recruiters in their community from companies like Square, Slack, and Greylock Partners.

Y Combinator Companies Hiring Interns

Y Combinator is one of the most notorious seed accelerator programs in the world. The program has helped launch over 2,000 companies including Stripe, Airbnb, Cruise Automation, DoorDash, Coinbase, Instacart, and Dropbox. YC startups have seen the impact of COVID-19 on internship programs and they are hoping to help out by providing employment options.

Covintern connects students with remote internships at top startups and companies.

Explore different internship and job opportunities.

Finding a Mentor

If you’re looking for guidance or inspiration, consider connecting with industry professionals and other students that can provide mentorship.

MentorMatch

College students can fill out this form to be matched with tech professionals for 30-min virtual coffee chats. Talk about general career advice, resume feedback, mock interview questions, or anything else.

Sherpa

Platform that matches mentors and mentees in tech. Over 400 mentors are currently on the platform, and you can read through their profiles to find someone that’s a good fit. Join here

Staying Healthy & Active

Although gyms and studios are closed, there are many workouts that can be done from the comfort of your home. Here are some recommendations of resources to utilize during this time:

Peloton App

You don’t need to own a Peloton bike. This app also includes great strength, yoga, bootcamp, etc. classes (and no bike needed). The app is currently free for new users for 90 days.

Fitnessbleder.com

Website featuring free fitness classes for all levels. Workouts can be sorted using filters like duration, intensity, and focus area.

Orangetheory

Orangetheory coaches have been publishing daily workout videos that target various parts of the body and help build strength and endurance.

CorePower is offering free access to a variety of classes every week to help people continue their practice.

Staying at home can feel lonely and isolating, so it’s important to stay in touch with family and friends. Here are some games that can be played with others remotely:
